Maybe they had some temporary problems in their servers.

It's their issue.

They just stuck sometimes at converting the image to lower sizes. It sometimes just takes more time and after some time they process it finally.

It's probably issue in their server load and they can't resize a lot of images at the same time.

It happens as well when uploading via browser. It's literally their issue and they might fix it. Report to their admins.
