Hello again :)

I personally don't use it but I know ppl use recovery records so it may be a good for you to include it if you can and it's easy.

Take care

Hi,

zip files don't have recovery records. They just don't include them by design. Similarly as 7z don't have them as well.

Hi.

Is TC only compressing to zip files?

No winrar possibility?

It's basically the same thing.

All programs which support rar also support zip.

rar is proprietary archive file format which can't be included in development tools based on their license. I can't write my own methods for it. I could only use third party software which I won't be able to monitor progress and errors.

Actually added recovery option for next update (1.01).

Also added compress format with "rar" option and explanations:
Quote:
zip (faster, low CPU usage, progress monitor, build-in support).
rar (slower, high CPU usage, no progress monitor, needs external rar.exe tool).

For rar you will obviously need to chosee "Rar.exe" file (from WinRar folder, not WinRar.exe).

I have tried to test rar and zip for just 1 process using my stop watch

I tested rar without recovery record and it was 15% faster than zipping the file. That was for a 2.2gb file.

Then I tried raring the file in a normal way using winrar. Same file on same disk in same sizes.

That was 50% faster than raring in TC.

Is there any way to set compression method in rar in TC to Store, that would be rar.exe -m0 ? thats the fastes way to rar files.

I dont know if zipping files in pkzip/winzip is the same. I assume rar.exe should be executed with -m0 option but I dont know if thats possible.

Or is it possible to add option to use rar/zip files already in the folder with the video ?

I'm using default rar values. The default is -m3 (which is basically average compression).

-m0 would have really low compression (but faster obviously).

Will add options 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 for compression level in settings.

1.02:
* Added compression level option in "Compress" settings.

Yes, with zero it's much faster since it doesn't do any compression basically.
