But if really wanted you can already use custom preview files.

Just generate the previews with that program and place the preview files with your video file and setup in themaCreator to use them.

In "Settings" -> "Process" -> "Preview" -> enable option "Prefer provider preview file and don't generate preview".

In "Settings" -> "Process" -> "Preview" -> down below (last option): "If using preview file prefer image which has name has text" -> by default it's set to "preview", so your image file must have word "preview" anywhere in filename. You can change that or leave it empty (if left empty = first image will be used).

VTM sometimes creates green screenshots and that is why I rely on TC. But sometimes TC fails for "video corrupt" reason, while video is just fine, and that is where VTM could jump in.

VTM is the most relevant thumbnailer and it has been since forever.
