I recently rebuilt my pc and reorganized folders. I was able to post the files ok, but the images for the previews were not saved to the post folders like usual. I looked in the forum and learned I needed to fix the path to the new folder in the section settings.

But now I have a bunch of posts that I a missing previews for, locally, that I have been saving for further use. Is there a way to trigger the thumbnail creation and saving, so that I have local copies, without re-uploading everything?

the files (video or what type you have) can be skipped and not uploaded to file hosts.

The images would need to be uploaded to trigger this, but you can use a random image host which supports uploading without account (you would delete those newly generated posts anyway, this would be just to generate and save images to folder).

Some image hosts which support upload without account (there are probably more, but I can't remember all, one is enough):


Probably the easiest way would be just to use a separate instance.

Copy paste themaCreator folder to new location on the same PC -> open user folder on new location and delete all files there except "userSettings" and "userId" (those two files must be left - they contain your main settings for cover / preview). Make sure to do that in the NEW instance (new location).

* In new instance just set "Main" template to have {#cover#} and {#preview#} tags (no need for anything more). Or just {#preview#} tag if you only need preview images saved.
* Add one image host which I mentioned.
* Do NOT add any file hosts.
* Add one section and under section sections don't forget to set a folder where to save the images (press "Update" button).

Select those files which you need to generate the cover / preview and make temporary posts (which you can delete later when cover / preview is generated and uploaded). Make sure settings for saving cover / preview into needed folder are correct as well.

Test with one or two files first to make sure it's fine.

Make sure again to do this in the NEW instance / location (otherwise you will delete your good current settings / posts).
